Cops seek 2nd sex clip blogger

Police said yesterday they had begun investigations into the individual who uploaded a segment of a sex video clip allegedly featuring an opposition leader and a prostitute on YouTube on Wednesday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters at the Bukit Aman police headquarters that although no reports had been lodged over the matter, police still wanted to investigate the case.

"The investigating team is tracing the whereabouts and the identity of the blogger who uploaded the second part of the sex video."

The case is being investigated under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commissions Act, and personnel from the Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department have also been roped in to assist the team.

At 1.30pm on Wednesday, a one-minute and 47-second segment of the sex video clip was uploaded onto YouTube by "wakparjosudorno".

However, it was removed at 6.45pm for violation of the website's policy on nudity and sexual content.

The user had claimed to be from Indonesia and had joined the popular video-sharing website on Tuesday.

This clip was the end portion of the 22-minute video clip screened to journalists at Carcosa Seri Negara on March 21.

Yesterday, opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 2.45pm, accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, brother-in-law Wan Mokhtar Wan Ismail and lawyer R. Sivarasa.

He spent about an hour being interviewed by police before emerging at 4pm where he spoke to reporters who had gathered outside the police station.

Anwar accused police of backing the individual responsible for uploading the segment of the sex video clip onto YouTube, saying it was impossible to distribute pornographic material so easily in Malaysia.

On Anwar being called to the Dang Wangi police headquarters yesterday, Khalid said it was a standard operating procedure as police needed to record his statement.
