Nurturing grads for future in accounting

MSU equips students with the knowledge and skills to face the working world.

STAYING ahead means the ability to offer programmes that suit the current trend and global economic transformation.

The Management & Science University (MSU), through its Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP), is living up to its central tenet of offering industry-driven programmes.

Since Malaysia needs 60,000 accountants by 2020, the faculty is committed to nurture and produce competent professionals.

The education and experience gained at MSU ensure graduates have a solid foundation in knowledge, skills and professional ethics, as well as the ability to learn and adapt to changes in their professional lives.

Its courses are designed to equip students with up-to-date knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges in accounting.

Upon graduation, graduates will be ready to work as accountants, auditors, finance or business executives, corporate planners, economic advisers, policymakers, etc.

Some of the firms that they are attached to include MAS, AmBank, YTL, KPMG, BDO Binder, etc.

Graduates will enjoy the following benefits from the professional accountancy body, ACCA, through the Accelerate Programme:

1. An initial ACCA registration fee is waived;

2. Enhance students' CV through MSU-FBMP linkage with ACCA;

3. Copies of ACCA regular magazine (Student Accountant) and local news update; and

4. Invitation to exclusive events -- students' meetings, technical and soft skill training courses and experience-sharing sessions with ACCA members.

FBMP also offers bachelor and diploma programmes with specialisation in International Business, Decision Science, Industrial Management, Investment Management, Education (TESL), Law and Commerce, Human Capital Management, Retail Management, Early Childhood Education, Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Event Management, Psychology with Marketing and Finance.

It is compulsory for MSU students to undergo a 6-month internship at selected organisations.

The entry requirements for bachelor programmes are minimum grade C in two subjects, including General Paper and D in two subjects in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia.

Students with KPM Matriculation Certificate, A Level, Foundation and other qualifications recognised by the MSU Senate are also eligible.

For diploma programmes, the entry requirements are minimum pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia with five credits, including Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics and science subjects.
